Who knew playing with mud could be so much fun? This April OOODay, we put down our phones and got our hands dirty in a pottery workshop. No rules, no pressure—just good old-fashioned creativity!
The moment hands touched the spinning wheels, the room buzzed with focus and giggles. Some ditched their jewelry to knead clay bare-handed, others rolled up sleeves, letting mud coat fingers—everyone was all in, feeling the raw joy of molding earth.
With guidance from the pros, TNCers quickly learned the trick to “centering” the clay… But hey, first tries are always chaotic—wonky shapes, uneven walls, sudden collapses… The wheel area echoed with “Whoa—SPLAT!” fails, which honestly made the best lessons. Everyone’s gotta start somewhere, right?
Over at the hand-building station, clay was turning into magic. No wheel? No problem! Fingers became the ultimate tools—pinching, rolling, squishing, and suddenly… basic blobs became cheeky cats, cute octopuses, tiny trees, even crusty baguettes and croissants!
And for those who wanted more detail, carving tools came into play. With careful strokes, TNCers etched patterns and textures into our clay—turning simple slabs into something truly unique.
Glazing time—where our clay creations finally came to life! We’ve got our meticulous artists—mixing colors like they’re in a chemistry lab, squinting at reference photos, determined to nail that perfect shade. Then there are the “go with the flow” types who just dip and swipe, going freestyle to guide their brush.
TNCers didn’t waste a second getting their wild ideas onto clay. Members were either holding their breath while painting, or going full Picasso mode with bold combos. Before we knew it, the studio was full of totally unique, personality-packed masterpieces!
Finally, the kiln reveals our masterpieces after two weeks! Unwrapping them felt like opening mystery boxes—total suspense! Some turned out way different than we imagined, and reactions were priceless.
Some pieces were super subtle but ended up looking minimalist and cool, while the thicker layers of color became bold, glossy, and utterly eye-catching! Each piece is one-of-a-kind—drips, streaks, tiny flaws—all adding to its uniqueness. No factory-perfection here, just raw handmade charm.
From messy first tries to legit progress, each creation tells its own story. Along the way, we found joy in crafting, focus in the process, and a bit of surprise in what our hands could do. Turns out, building something by hand isn’t so different from what we do every day at work—one thoughtful step at a time.
